Stages of Stardom: Raven
Watch her go from 'Cosby' cutie to ravishing 'Raven!'
1988: Career Kick Start
Raven-Symone's acting career started at the age of 3 on the 'Cosby Show' playing adorable and sassy Olivia Kendall. Raven played this character from 1988 to 1992. It was her role on the 'Cosby Show' that made the foundation for her successful career. She was so young and cute at this time, that many of her outfits were really colorful. This played up her youtfhulness and showed her fun fashionable side!
1998: Monkey Business
At age 13, Raven-Symone played the character Charisse Dolittle in both 'Dr. Dolittle' and 'Dr. Dolittle 2.' Her character was the daughter of Dr. Dolittle played by Eddie Murphy. Raven really started to mature in both her personality and looks. Her cheek bones became more defined, her beautiful eyes took shape and her smile became the center of attention after Raven started wearing lip gloss and eye shadows.
2001: Red Carpet Raven
Three years can make a difference and it certainly did with Raven's look and confidence. It was 2001 when 'Dr. Dolittle 2' came out and by then Raven-Symone was 16 years old. Raven started wearing more make-up, wearing clothes that really made her stand out on the red carpet and her head was held high with her growing success. Raven also added highlights to her black hair to soften her look.
2002: Ice Queen
Raven dressed in a sky-blue formal dress with matching wrap, classic updo and a beautiful necklace and earrings to The 33rd NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Awards in 2002. NAACP awarded Raven with a Junior Achievement Award for Excellence in a TV series and an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a TV series.
2003: Living It Up in Leather
Wow... Raven not only began by starring on her brand-new show, 'That's So Raven,' but all of a sudden Raven got very sexy with her leather outfit, soft curly locks, flawless skin and glossy lips. Not only did her show take off successfully, but so did her grown-up and confident look. Did you know in real life Raven's friends call her by the nickname Rae like on 'That's So Raven'?
2003: Perfectly Posh
Just three months after the previous photo shown was taken, Raven attended a reception at a Louis Vuitton store in Beverly Hills and her look was so different. Raven had traded in the bad girl look for a more preppy and refined one. She toned down her makeup, colored her hair back to black and straightened her soft curls for a sleeker look.
2003: Cat Appeal
This beautiful dress reminds us of the dresses that are common for Spanish Flamenco dancers to wear. The GORGEOUS reds and oranges in it really stand out against Raven's skin. The slimming shape of the dress is very flattering and really shows off Raven's saucy side.
2004: Coming Up Roses
Raven looked amazing at this event and finally had settled into a look that was uniquely hers. The light, rosey pink, leather jacket is feminine and girly while the studs on it add a little edge to the look. Raven has always been smart about her makeup choices and this light and neutral face was no exception.
2004: Suited Up
This white suit was an interesting choice for Raven. The wide leg pants really work against her, making her legs look bigger then they are. But the white bustier and jacket are flattering and show off her curves without showing too much skin. With a slightly trimmer pant she would have been the belle of the ball (or awards show in this case!).
2006: Boho Blues
GASP! What was Raven thinking? We LOVE that Raven takes chances with her looks and styles and isn't afraid to express herself with a new fashion. But this boho-bum look was nothing to write home about. The skirt is bad enough but the cropped denim jacket and sloppy hairstyle really seal the deal! Everyone's allowed their bad hair days, we'll hope this is the ONLY one!
2006: Grey Areas
Raven rebounded nicely after that bad boho look with this beautiful steel grey, pinstriped outfit. She looked professional and pretty and we were so happy about it. Raven, in Mary-Kate and Ashely fashion, has made her name a brand, and she represented it perfectly in this ensemble!
2006: Short and Sweet
For the release of the new PlayStation 3, Raven rocked a teeny-weeny baby doll dress with strappy stilettos. The dress wasn't one of her best choices, as it really didn't flatter her curvy figure. We love that she isn't a skinny-minnie, BUT we wish she didn't try to dress like one, too!
