Editor's Opinion -- Dark Nail Polish

If there was ever a look that conveyed emotion, dark nail polish was it. This doesn't mean we think everyone who wears dark nail polish has a dark side, more that they are really into expressing themselves. And I'm all for self-expression, so I HEART this trend!

The one problem with black nail polish is it doesn't always look good on very pale skin, especially if the color is a flat black. Go for a shiny black or metallic grey if you're very pale. And also check out various shades of deep red and purple for a funky mood-expressing shade.

If you're trying to channel your inner punk girl, you'll want to mess around with deep and dark shades. One of my favorite tricks is to do a reverse french manicure, black nails with white tips or even white nails with black tips. Or take this one step further and do hot pink nails with black tips or some other, funky combo. Another problem with dark nail polish is it will show chips easily, so keep it freshly painted at all times.
