What the heck happened to Hilary Duff? Her hair looked messy and even slightly grungy. We appreciate the tousled tresses look but this was overdone and by the end of the night poor Hilary's hair was just a nest.

Texture 101

Final Grade: C
While Vanessa Hudgens' hair wasn't as bad as Hilary Duff's, she definitely had the same style going on. Piecey, textured hair hung limply along her face. We prefer Vanessa with hair that's sleek and shiny or pulled up in a cute updo!

Striped Style

Final Grade: C
We're evenly torn on Avril Lavigne's hair. Part of us loved the funky, punk-chic, pink streaks. And part of us loathed the way it was only colored on one side and how thick the colored section at the top of her head was. And let's not even start on her heavy-handed, smoky eye look.

Trio of Tresses

Final Grade: D
We've been pretty unimpressed with the hair at the Teen Choice Awards so far. Seriously, what were The Jonas Brothers thinking? We can barely get past their silly, pout expressions. But when we do, the view up top isn't any better. We'll give them credit for not going all matchy-matchy though!

Seeing Sparks

Final Grade: F
We adored Jordin Sparks on 'American Idol,' we really did. She was youthful, cute and firey. The only thing firey about this hairdo was that it looked like it ignited and caught on fire. That was harsh, we know. BUT, this 'do is all wrong for several reasons. The biggest being that it makes her face look rounder and larger by poofing out like that at her cheeks.

Behind Hazel Eyes

Final Grade: A++
We're so happy to see a beautiful hairdo, we feel like groveling at Sophia Bush's feet for a while. Her auburn locks looked FANTASTIC in this adorable side-swept, updo. Best of all, her bangs swept delicately to the side where the updo was fastened in place. Our only complaint is we can only see one of her beautiful hazel eyes.

Highlight of the Evening

Final Grade: A
Now we're talkin'! Kelly Clarkson's highlighted bob looked great. The colors were perfectly blended and looked natural and pretty against her glowing skin. Nothing looks better with multi-dimensional color then a cute layered, texturized bob.

Don't Let it Fall

Final Grade: B-
We liked the fringey bangs Monique Coleman had. And her long hair was styled into a loose curly half-ponytail 'do. She had so much hair though that we wondered if any of it was a fall, a hair piece that's similar to extensions.

Shadows Move In

Final Grade: A
We admit we had to put our hands over Zac Efron's PIERCING blue eyes in this pic, so that we could focus on his hair. We really liked the loose, tousled style he had, it looked great against his tan skin. We also liked the slight five o'clock shadow he had going on, it made him look a little rugged and oh-so hot!

Beach Bum

Final Grade: C
What was the deal with loose, beachy waves? Did we miss the memo? I guess the easiest way to channel your inner teenager was to let your hair down and add salt spray. Fergie was a little choked up when she accepted her award later that evening, so she was definitely on the teenage roller coaster of emotions!

Twist of Events

Final Grade: B-
The older celebs went down and breezy, while one of the youngest starlets went up and styled. Miley Cyrus' hair looked decent in this pulled back 'do. Our only complaint was the tendrils she left on the sides looked like they were starting to wilt. Didja see this girl accepting her award? Holy mackerel, does she have energy!
