Pretty Pointers: Twinkle Toes
Your feet support you all day long. Now sit down, put them up and give them the royal treatment they deserve.
Step One: Soak It Up
Start by removing all nail polish from your toenails and then set your feet to soak. If you don't have a fancy whirpool foot bath you can use a big bowl or bucket. Just make sure you use a foot soak (Fresh Rice Foot Soak does the job nicely) and that the water is warm. Sit back and relax, let your feet soak up the warmth.
Step Two: Sole Searching
After letting feet soak for at least five minutes, we recommend letting them soak until the heat is gone from the water, exfoliate them. Get a good scrub, like Archipelago Botanicals Sugar Cane and Coconut Sugar Polish, and get rubbing. With your feet still a little damp, rub some of the scrub in your hands and slather it on your feet. Pay close attention to the bottoms of your feet as they will need the most scrubbing.
Step Three: You Need a Knead
A good massage just requires two hands and a good foot lotion. After rinsing off the scrub, pat feet dry with a clean towel. Rub a nickel-sized amount of lotion, we really like Fresh Rice Foot Cream, and then take your feet one by one into your hands. Rub the tops of your feet, the sides, the bottoms, even between your toes. Don't stop until you feel all the stress escape your feet.
Step Four: Prim and Polished
The final task in your pedicure is to apply nail polish. Wipe your toenail beds with a wet paper towel to make sure all the lotion is off them. Start with your smallest toe and work your way in. Apply even strokes of color to each nail and try to keep from putting too much polish on, as this will spill over onto skin. If you make mistakes you can use a cotton swab and some nail polish remover, or the Essie Nail Correction Pen does the job easily.
