Pretty Pointers: Shaving 101
The cutest skirts, shorts and cropped pants call for silky, smooth legs. Read our tips for removing hair and keeping it away!
Step One: Love Your Legs
You will get your best shave when your legs have been properly prepped for it. Shaving doesn't consist of just a razor, you need soap, shaving gel or cream and a good lotion. You should shave your legs at the end of your shower, the hot water will make your skin softer, which will make your razor glide easier over your skin.

Step Two: Lather Up
Once your skin has been softened by the shower, it's ready for a shaving gel or cream. There are tons of good gels and creams out there, we really like Skintimate brand products. And, if you don't mind paying a bit more, the Benefit Bathina offers a super-close, super-soft shave. All you need is a small dollop of product. Rub it in your hands to warm it up and turn it into a rich lather. Then rub it all over your legs, anywhere you plan to shave.
Step Three: Raise Your Razor
You'll find propping your leg up on something will make it easier to shave. Try to keep it out of the stream of water while you're at it. Now put your razor to work. The shaving gel/cream you choose acts as a protector for your skin, and will minimize your chances for nicks and cuts. And, some razors are gentler than others, we absolutely adore the Gillete Venus. Shave in even motions, by pulling the razor up your leg from your foot towards your body.
Step Four: Just Add Softness
Once you've finished shaving both legs and you've followed up with a good washing, you'll need to add lotion. Lotion, obviously will soften skin, but did you know it can help you shave less often? Lotions like Jergens Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer, are meant to make hairs grow slower and therefore will make you shave less often. Apply lotion as soon as you get out of the shower or bath and make sure you apply it daily.
