Pretty Pointers: Raising Eyebrows
Taming your eyebrows doesn't have to be a frightful experience. Let us help show your options and how you can minimize pain.
Step One: To Tweeze or Not to Tweeze?
Make the decision, do you want to tweeze or wax your brows? Tweezing is a cheaper alternative and more convienent, as you can do it any time. Waxing is more expensive and requires you to schedule an appointment. Both can hurt a little, though waxing usually leaves skin a little more tender. You can even pay people to tweeze or thread your eyebrows if you don't like wax. If you find the experience to be too painful, you can always try taking a pain reliever before you do anything to them. And if they swell up real bad, a little ice will help them cool down.
Step Two: Steam and Draw
keep in mind that it's much easier to pluck hairs that have been steamed first. After a fresh, hot shower is a great start. Don't rub them dry either, leave a little bit of moisture on the brow to keep them soft. Finding the natural arch of your eyebrows is most important. Start with a pencil and draw a faint thin line of where you think your curve should go. Then look at the hairs that are drastically outside the line. Those are the ones you want to pluck first. Don't go crazy though, it can be really easy to start plucking and not stop. Start small and remove more later if you need. Remember: They WILL grow back!
Step Three: Wax Warfare
Waxing can be a much quicker way to get your eyebrows in the shape you want. Waxing only costs about $10 and usually the people at the salon can get you a nice arch. You can even try an at-home kits, but be careful, hot wax can leave a nasty burn and beauty should NEVER be about pain! The upside to doing it at the salon is usually they don't overdo, so you won't have to worry about having no eyebrows.
