Pretty Pointers: Locks of Love
Step One: Get Ready
The number one mistake people make with their hair is washing it every day. Most people can get away with washing it every other day. Also, use a shampoo and conditioner made for your hair type. It's all about finding the right combo for you, mix and match products until you get what you want. We recommend trying sample sizes while you search.
Step Two: Lather Up
Another common mistake is overusing shampoo, unless you have very long hair, you only need a nickel-sized amount of shampoo and conditioner. Lastly, let's address the myth of "rinse, lather, repeat." You do NOT need to repeat! If your hair is really dirty sure, but on a regular basis this overshampooing can lead to stripping hair of it's natural oils.
Step Three: Dry Off
As soon as you climb out of the shower you should towel dry hair. When you towel dry you help rid your hair of the excess water. Then follow up with a little leave-in conditioner, one of the best is Bed Head Ego Boost, it doesn't weigh hair down and it protects from split ends. Only apply it to the ends of hair, that's the only place it's needed.
Step Four: Beware
Blow drying is not as bad as some people would have you think. Use a spritz like Bumble and bumple Prep, your hair will be protected and conditioned against the harshness of the heat. Use a round bristle brush to style hair and lock moisture in as you dry it. Ionic hairdryers have become very popular and they do help restore shine and softness.
