The Okee Dokee Brothers - Can You Canoe?



'CAN YOU CANOE?' Justin Lansing and Joe Mailander are lifelong friends who enjoy outdoors adventures as much as they like making music. On June 1st, 2011, Joe and Justin began a canoe trip in Minneapolis, MN and continued down the river for the next 30 days until they arrived at the St. Louis Gateway Arch. During their month long journey on the Mississippi, they camped, canoed, filmed, and most importantly, composed the songs that make up their new album for kids and families. Can You Canoe? also won a Parents' Choice Gold Award and Creative Child Award, and it topped the Fids and Kamily critics' poll as the best family music album of 2012.



These artists will perform at a family concert on Saturday, February 9th at The Mint in Los Angeles with the proceeds benefiting Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.

The video finishes off with dozens of photos of adorable kids sporting various style of facial bristling, from soap suds to paper cut-outs, to knitwear and even curly kale!
The video was imagined, shot, directed, edited and written by the duo. "It was kind of an exercise in whimsy all around," says Jason.




"We asked all of our fans to send in pictures of their families with fake beards, the more imaginative the materials, the better," The Pop Ups explain. "We loved seeing so many of the ideas coming from kids and then cooperatively created with their parents. It was a very cool way to turn our listeners into DIY makers, which is one of the key themes of the Pop Ups."

Tim is very involved in the kids world in that he got his start in kid's music while volunteering in a nursery of a homeless shelter in New York City. Currently, he is the curator of his own kids music program called "Little Rock-Its" that is based out of the Williamsburg, Brooklyn play space, Frolic!




"Second Grade Show" is the second single off of Anthems for Adventure, a thirteen-song collection for the young and young at heart that aims to inspire everyone to turn off their TV's and computers, and get outside and play, and celebrates adventures as grand as riding a cardboard rocketship to space and as small as taking on a small but pivotal role in the school play. The song is based on band tap dancer/percussionist/guitar player/Tim's BFF "Jumpsuit" Alex MacDonald's first acting role in a student-written production, about a game of chess. The play in the music video isn't about chess, though -- watch closely, and you may recognize the play the kids are putting on.

Seth said he could smell leaking gas just before his grandmother, Rose Cutright, lit a cigarette in her bedroom at about 3pm.

Seth and his grandmother were the only ones at home when the small flame immediately set the house on fire.

"It was like 'boom.' A flash before your eyes," Seth tells KATU in the video. "My grandma was on fire."

12-Year-Old Boy Saves Grandmother From Fire

Seth instantly sprang into action. He grabbed his burning grandmother and carried her out of their home in his arms. By the time Seth got outside, the fire on his grandmother had gone out.

"I carried her outside and set her on the ground. I went to the next-door neighbor's and said: "Call the ambulance.'" he told the Daily Mail.

Oregon fire fighters battled the flames for three hours before they were able to put it out.

Seth and his grandmother are recovering from their burns at Oregon Burn Center. Rose remains in critical condition, reports Hollywood Life.

Seth has visible burns covering his face and his hands are wrapped in bandages, but doctors say that he is expected to make a full recovery, with no visible scarring, reports the Daily Mail.

Seth, however, wants the public to see his burned face as a warning about the dangers of house fires.

Seth, along with his father, Roger Cutright, also talked to TV stations to show their gratitude for the doctors at the burn center.

"I love you. I'm proud of you. You're my hero," Seth's father, Roger Cutright, said to his son on KATU.

The lovable White House Portugese water dog turns four years old on Tuesday, and he has grown a LOT since his days as a puppy in the White House.

In his short spell at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Bo's already chilled with Oprah, worn costumes, gotten his own Beanie Baby, pulled some pranks and made friends with Betty White -- and he even gets to sleep in the bed every now and then.

So, four years in, what's Bo's approval rating? Well, the presidential pup has gotten some very high praise. "He is the smartest dog on the planet," the first lady told David Letterman back in March. "He is my son. I have two girls and a boy ... He's very well-mannered, he's very even-tempered. He has a busy schedule, I mean appearances... we're thinking about getting him an agent."
