Stages of Stardom: Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas had already played roles in Broadway musicals and released several singles to Christian radio before he and his brothers formed the Jonas Brothers! Their first single, 'Mandy', off 'It's About Time,' was released in late 2005 to Christian radio.
In 2006, just before Nick turned 14, the Jonas Brothers released their very first album, titled 'It's About Time.' The album was sold at Christian bookstores and is now a collector's item, as it's now out of print and hard to find.
In early 2007 Nick Jonas and the Jonas Brothers were preparing to release their self-titled album, 'Jonas Brothers' under Hollywood Records. This album would be their first mainstream release and featured the singles 'Hold On,' 'SOS' and 'When You Look Me in the Eyes.'
Nick was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was only 13 years old. He has been quoted as saying this about how he handles his condition, "Luckily, I've got some really great people around me that really help me manage my diabetes. And it hasn't slowed me down yet, and I'm not planning on letting it do that. So I'm going to continue to do what I love and if I have occasional low or high blood sugar, it will be all right because I've got some really great people surrounding me."
Nick, and the rest of the Jonas Brothers definitely have a star quality about them. Nick just always looks so well put together with his own sense of style and fun curly hair. Did you know that Nick's signature curls weren't always there, he has been quoted saying that he had straight hair until he was 12!
At the end of 2007 the Jonas Brothers were getting ready to kick off their 'Look Me In The Eyes Tour' and Nick was enjoying their meteoric rise to stardom! The Jonas Brothers have a great eye for style and are very attentive to detail, as evidenced here by Nick's accessories!
Nick plays several instruments, including guitar, drums and piano/keyboard. And on the Jonas Brothers' album 'Lines, Vines and Trying Times,' he played the glockenspiel. With success on Broadway, success in a band and all his instrumental talents it's apparent Nick was meant to be someone big one day!
In the summer of 2008 the Jonas Brothers took a break from headlining their own tours to be an opening act on the second leg of Avril Lavigne's European tour. They also co-wrote and co-produced six songs for Demi Lovato's first CD release and were working on 'Camp Rock.' The JoBros really never stop!
Nick has been quoted as describing his own sense of style as "I think I created my own style. I like to be more dressed up. Almost a little more preppy. But I call it, "Formal Rock" cause I have bright green shoes on. And I rolled up the sleeves, which is the key!"
In mid 2008 Nick Jonas became the latest teen celebrity to be a Disney Channel star with the debut of the Jonas Brothers' special movie, 'Camp Rock.' The movie did so well that there will be a 'Camp Rock 2!'
