Keke Palmer was born on August 26, 1993. It was at the tender age of 13 that she got the lead role in the movie 'Akeelah and the Bee.' She had the opportunity to work with screen legends, Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett on the project. The movie received a lot of critical praise and put Keke on the map as a young, breakthrough star!

In the movie, 'Akeelah and the Bee', Keke plays Akeelah Anderson, an 11-year-old girl who participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Akeelah attends Crenshaw, Los Angeles, California Middle School and travels all the way to Washington, D.C. for the finals.

In 2006 Keke tried her hand at singing and released the song 'All My Girlz.' After releasing her first album, Keke had the chance to tour with the WNBA on a twelve city tour, where she performed songs from her debut album, 'So Uncool,' as the half-time special entertainment. She also got the opportunity to headline Disney's 2007 Jingle Jam Tour.

At the premiere of 'The Longshots' in 2008, Keke Palmer paused for a pic with athlete Jasmine Plummer. Keke received rave reviews for her performance in 'The Longshots,' a true story about the first female to quarterback an all boys football team to Pop Warner Nationals.

Keke had the opportunity to star in the Disney Channel Original Movie, 'Jump In' with Corbin Bleu. Keke is also featured on the movie's soundtrack and is the only artist with two songs on the album. The soundtrack landed at the top of the charts as the third best selling album in its first week of release and remained in the top 10 for over a month.

The movie 'Akeelah and the Bee' was nominated for four NAACP Image Awards. And Keke, alone, won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Motion Picture as well as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Motion Picture by the Black Movie Awards. She has also received nominations for Most Promising Newcomer by the Chicago Film Critics, Best Actress by the Black Reel Awards, and Best Young Actress by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

In August of 2009 Keke celebrated her Sweet 16 Birthday at a party sponsored by T-Mobile Sidekick LX. Keke certainly has a lot to celebrate these days, when 'True Jackson VP' debuted over 5 million tuned in to watch making it the largest debut in Nickelodeon's 29 year history!
