Ancient Living Caves: Mexican archaeologist Guillermo de Anda is aided by two young archeologists as he prepares to dive into an underground lake inside a cenote cave in Tzibichen on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Archeologists using long-forgotten testimony from the Inquisition trials of Indian heretics in the 1500's have discovered caves in which ancient Mayas built chambers, altars and underground roads that appear to represent the path that departed spirits had to travel after death.

British Caving team believe they have discovered the largest sized cave passage in the world in Vietnam. Measuring 200 meters in height and 150 meters in width the new cave, called Hang Son Doong (Mountain River Cave), is 6.5 km long. Assisted by representatives of Hanoi University of Science the team explored the new cave for five days. The team spent six hours trekking through the jungle to reach the cave. Climbing down into a large chamber, they had to negotiate two underground rivers before reaching the main passage of the Hang Son Doong.
