KOL Alanna: Hey Emma - How are you today?
emmaisnancydrew: I'm great thanks!
emmaisnancydrew: Just finished @ TRL
emmaisnancydrew: had a lot of fun!
KOL Alanna: How are you enjoying New York?
emmaisnancydrew: I LOVE nyc
emmaisnancydrew: i was born upstate
emmaisnancydrew: its def one of my favorite cities
KOL Alanna: You were raised in California though, right?
emmaisnancydrew: Yup!
KOL Alanna: So, before I ask you about your latest role as Nancy Drew, tell me how you got your start in acting? Was living in California, with every other person being in the acting business, an inspiration for you?
emmaisnancydrew: haha
emmaisnancydrew: I have been on sets since i was very young and just always loved it
emmaisnancydrew: then i got a manager when i was 9 and started going on auditions and have kept going since then
KOL Alanna: Do you remember what your first acting gig was?
emmaisnancydrew: The movie Blow was my first thing
KOL Alanna: Did you share any screen time with Johnny Depp?!
emmaisnancydrew: Yes! i played his daughter
KOL Alanna: Did he have any advice for you as far as acting goes?
emmaisnancydrew: he didn't really give me any advice ... he did make me feel very comfortable on set though
emmaisnancydrew: very nice and genuine guy
KOL Alanna: You've worked with pretty amazing people from then on! So, how did you get involved with the 'Nancy Drew' movie?
emmaisnancydrew: I had a general meeting with warner bros and they mentioned that they were doing a Nancy Drew movie and i thought that was an awesome idea!
emmaisnancydrew: i read the script, loved it, and then screen tested and then i found out i got the part
emmaisnancydrew: i was so thrilled!!
KOL Alanna: Have you ever read any of the 'Nancy Drew' books before reading the script?
emmaisnancydrew: i didn't read any before i got the part
emmaisnancydrew: i read a few after
emmaisnancydrew: not all of them though. Theres toooo many!!
KOL Alanna: On your show 'Unfabulous' you play a Junior High School student, and in 'Nancy Drew' you play a High Schooler ... Were you relieved to play someone closer to your age?
emmaisnancydrew: It was definetly easier to play someone closer to your age
emmaisnancydrew: high school and middle school are big differences believe it or not
KOL Alanna: Yeah, as soon as you hit High School you're driving, and thinking about college... Speaking of driving, was it really you driving in the movie?
emmaisnancydrew: nope!
emmaisnancydrew: its a stunt double
emmaisnancydrew: looks like me though
KOL Alanna: Can you drive in real life though?
emmaisnancydrew: i have my permit
emmaisnancydrew: not my license yet
KOL Alanna: Do you think you have anything in common with Nancy Drew?
emmaisnancydrew: We are both ambitious and we are curious as well as independent
emmaisnancydrew: she is way more neat than i am
KOL Alanna: What was the closest to sleuthing that you have ever done in real life?
emmaisnancydrew: i have never really done any sleuthing
emmaisnancydrew: haha
emmaisnancydrew: everyone always asks that but i really have not
emmaisnancydrew: mysteries don't fall into my lap like Nancy Drew
KOL Alanna: One thing you guys do share in common, it's your awesome style! Did you get to keep your wardrobe from the set?
emmaisnancydrew: I did not! The wardrobe was great though. The clothes were all made one of a kind for the movie which is very cool
emmaisnancydrew: i think its starting a new trend though! i see lots of nancy drew inspired looks out there these days
KOL Alanna: Do you have any cool plans for the summer?
emmaisnancydrew: i'm going to England to shoot a new movie called Wild Chile
emmaisnancydrew: child**
emmaisnancydrew: i'm so excited for it!!
KOL Alanna: Sweet!! Hope you bring an umbrella with you :-)
emmaisnancydrew: i already bought the cutest umbrella and raincoat from H & M
emmaisnancydrew: haha
KOL Alanna: H&M is an awesome store... do you have any fashion trends that you hope will catch on?
emmaisnancydrew: i love headbands and high waisted jeans
emmaisnancydrew: they seeem to be catching on
emmaisnancydrew: i also love polka dots
KOL Alanna: Polka dots are a great pattern!
KOL Alanna: Is there hope for a 'Nancy Drew' sequel?
emmaisnancydrew: Yes absolutely! A sequal would be so fun
emmaisnancydrew: solving another mystery and getting to solve a whole nother mystery
emmaisnancydrew: oops
emmaisnancydrew: i got confused with my bad typing skills
emmaisnancydrew: haha
