Red Carpet Wrap Up: MTV Video Music Awards

Overall we thought Miranda looked great and very appropriate for the MTV VMAs. We love everything about her dress except the bottom lace or crazy design pattern. It takes away from the overall look of the dress which is very edge and sort of punk. Miranda's shoes are awesome and were right in style.

Is that Sean with a mascot version of himself? Weird. Sean always seems to sport jeans and some sort of T-shirt to awards shows. This time he put a nice jacket over it which dressed it up a bit. Love the sneakers but just doesn't seem right for this event.

Taylor looked amazing on the red carpet. Her long sparkling dress was so sophisticated. The one shoulder look continues to be big. We also love the earrings and bracelets. Two thumbs up to her stylist because the whole look worked so well.

Chase looked classy and very appropriate for the evening. His black suit fits nicely and we love how he went for the more casual look by losing the tie and opening up some buttons.

Romper, rompers, rompers... they seem to be another big fashion trend lately. Between that, and the one shoulder top, Megan is just a perfect example of what's in. We are big fans of black and white (think she was going for a Michael Jackson tie in with his Black or White song?). Two big thumbs up for Megan.

Here's another great dress from the red carpet. From the purse to the funky shoes and nail polish, Alicia had a pulled-together look. We love the play on circles in the dress, earrings and bracelets. The shoes almost look like the same material as the circles on the dress. The belt is the perfect way to show off her waist. Can we borrow this outfit?

We were so happy with all the looks on the red carpet but then we saw Jack Black and thought, OMG. Clearly he is dressed as the hero of "Brutal Legend" roadie Eddie Riggs that he does the voice for in the upcoming EA video game. Guess it shouldn't surprise us that he would wear a muscle suit, a head banger's wig and carry an axe (which was just plastic). Talk about getting into the game...

Uh, Jennifer, what's up with this outfit? This dress just doesn't work for us. Neither the funky sleeves and neck wrap around, nor the dress part itself, were nice. We don't love the color, don't love the strapless neckline (or lack of) and the add on sleeves and neck strapes don't do anything for the look. A big thumbs down.

Justin must be taking lessons from Sean Kingston on how to sport jeans and sneakers to awards shows. Put that aside, we actually think Justin pulls it off better since he is younger. The jeans look to be more of a dark gray rather than a blue denim which always helps dress things up. The jacket is also nice and sort of looks Michael Jackson-ish.

So one of the big gossip items of the red carpet was how Shakira and Pink showed up in the same dress. Not sure how that happened, but either way, we liked it. Both of them looked great and the silver chains and leather were totally edgy. Definitely more of what you would typically think of Pink wearing, but then again, isn't Shakira's latest song 'She Wolf'?
