The Clique Girlz Interview
KOL: Each of you has a "symbol" that represents you within the group. Why did you pick that specific symbol and how does it reflect your personality?
Clique Girlz: Our symbols are a star, a princess crown and a heart. When Desitinee was little, she had something in her eye and her mom took her to the doctor’s. And the eye doctor said not to worry – that it was called a star. And she has been obsessed with stars ever since. Paris is the princess of the group and always love princesses so her symbol is a crown. Ariel loves hearts because she always wants to help others and has a big heart.
KOL: What was the most challenging obstacle you had to overcome in the past four years?
Clique Girlz: Probably recording like 90 songs because it is a lot of hard work, but, in the end, it all pays off!
KOL: Personally, what is your favorite set of lyrics from your new album? Why?
Clique Girlz: Our favorite set of lyrics would be "you’re incredible" because it’s to our fans and we really feel our fans are so incredible to put us where we are today.
KOL: What would you like your music to achieve in the future?
Clique Girlz: We would like to see our music change people's lives to follow their dreams no matter how young or old they are.
KOL: If you could say one thing to your fans about chasing dreams, what would it be?
Clique Girlz: We would like to let them know that they should follow their dreams and find something that you love and is your passion and make a career out of it. Always follow your heart.
KOL: Favorite band/movie/tv show and why are they on your must-list?Clique Girlz: Our favorite bands are Tokio Hotel, Rooney, Paramore, Green Day and Flyleaf. Our favorite movies are Shine the Light; the Rolling Stones movie, Titanic, Forest Gump and Castaway. We love Tom Hanks! Our favorite TV show is Instant Star and Degrassi. These are all on our must-list because they’re awesome!
KOL: Favorite ice cream flavors
Clique Girlz: All of us love vanilla and chocolate first. We like strawberry too.
KOL: Favorite store
Clique Girlz: We don’t really have a favorite store because we love all stores! We love to shop!
KOL: Favorite accessories
Clique Girlz: Our favorite accessories are necklaces and bracelets. We love silver and gold and anything that sparkles.
KOL: Favorite summer memory
Clique Girlz: Our favorite summer memories are all of the parties we would have at the beach because we were lucky enough to grow up by the beach in New Jersey.
KOL: What inspired the songs on your record?
Clique Girlz: A lot of the songs are inspired by following your dreams. And, some are about friends and real life.
KOL: What’s your favorite song on the record?
Clique Girlz: Our favorite song on the record is 'Without You' just because it’s a rocking song and a lot of kids can relate with peer pressure and friends.
KOL: If you could have any musician’s career other than your own, what would it be?
Clique Girlz: Gwen Stefani, because she is so talented and has done so much in her career. She is also a great mom and we think Kingston is so cute.
KOL: If we looked inside your refrigerator, what would we find?
Clique Girlz: Very healthy things like fruit, veggies, chicken, eggs – fresh food. Our moms makes us eat healthy for energy.
KOL: What are the most played songs on your Ipod?
Clique Girlz: Definitely Clique Girlz's songs. We love our music and it helps us practice. We also love Jordan Sparks and Chris Brown "No Air." And, Tokio Hotel’s "Monsoon." Gwen’s "Sweet Escape" reminds us of when we came to LA because we used to drive around in the car and sing it out of the window to everyone.
KOL: What did you think life as a musician would be like when you first started out and how does it compare to what it’s really like for you now?
Clique Girlz: We thought we were ready to go over 4 years ago but, boy, did we have a lot to learn? It is a lot of hard work. And, we thought it just happens overnight. But, now, because we have worked so hard and it’s all coming together, we appreciate it so much more.
