Southern Boy

Kris Allen was born on June 21, 1985. Kris was always into music, playing instruments throughout his school years, including teaching himself to play the guitar. In 2007 he and some college buddies produced a CD called 'Brand New Shoes' which they passed out to friends and family and put online. Kris tried to pursue a music career and figured his audition for 'American Idol' would be his last try at breaking in. He and his brother Daniel auditioned in Kentucky, but only he made it on. At the beginning of 'Idol' Kris didn't get much air time. It was only later in the season that the judges and public really took notice. He was crowned the winner of season eight and has gone on to tour with 'Idol' and work on his first studio album due out later this month. Check out his music below.
