Stages of Stardom: The Cast of Harry Potter
2001: Romancing the Stone
Filming for the 'Harry Potter' movies kicked off in 2001 with 'Harry Potter and the Sorcer's Stone.' Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) have changed a lot since the first movie. Just check out how young they looked in this picture! Their styles were classic and simple, sticking to school uniforms.

2001: A Friendship Is Born
Harry and Ron shared a very similar taste in clothing. Functional over stylish was their motto. Not that their warm-looking sweaters weren't slightly stylish but their statement was clearly about keeping warm and cozy. There's nothing wrong with that, and we couldn't help but notice how young their faces looked.

2001: Awkward Beginnings
In November 2001, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' was released in theaters. This photo, taken at the premiere for the release, shows a VERY young, Emma, Daniel and Rupert. The 'Harry Potter' cast looked like little mini adults in their grown-up premiere clothing, we have a sneaking suspicion their parents played a role in the selections.

2002: Casual Corner
Just one year later, in November of 2002, 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' was released nationwide and this film was as wildly popular as the first. Check out how much Ron and Harry had already grown in this picture. The 'Harry Potter' books follow year after year of Harry's life and so it's been important that the movies are filmed one after another. Their styles were still casual and comfy but looking a little bit more edgy.

2002: The Secret's Out
Here they are, the 'Harry Potter' cast, a full year later, at the premiere of 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.' And the biggest change was their clothes. They don't look like little kids on a red carpet anymore. They dressed and acted like the young adults they were becoming. We got the feeling they dressed themselves this time because their clothes were more suited to them.

2004: It's in the Jeans
When 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' opened nationwide in June, audiences everywhere gasped! JEANS! SWEATSHIRTS! OH MY! The 'Harry Potter' cast was finally wearing normal clothes. Emma Watson (Hermione) even exclaimed excitement in an interview over the fact that they got to wear jeans! Look how great they looked in something other than Hogwart's robes.

2004: Ravishing on the Red Carpet
Check out how absolutely stunning Emma looked holding on to her very fashionable costars. If this dress was a hint of what we might see Hermione wear in the coming movies, we are more then ready! Daniel and Rupert looked smashing as well, though Rupert missed the memo that jeans and sneakers are better left OFF the red carpet.

2005: The Dark Arts
In 'The Goblet of Fire' the storyline shifted dramatically darker. With the storyline came darker clothing for the 'Harry Potter' cast. We noticed Ron, Harry and Hermione were all wearing hooded sweatshirts and or sweaters that added some teenage rebelliousness to their looks.

2005: Danger Around the Corner
As part of their edgier looks the cast was also wearing trendy, sherpa-lined jackets. Paired with jeans and cords in fun colors, this look was the perfect style for the aging cast. We like to think that Rupert, Emma and Daniel are getting at least a small say in some of the style choices their characters would have made on screen.

2005: Every Rose Has Its Thorn
Emma was like a rose in between two thorns on the London premiere of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' red carpet. She looked absolutely adorable in her pretty, rose printed dress. But Daniel looked horrid in that weird suit with a shiny, green vest. And Rupert's velvet jacket wouldn't have been half bad if he'd worn better fitting jeans.

2005: Two Steps Forward
The 'Harry Potter' cast might not have looked great in London, but they sure did in New York! While Daniel's suit is still a bit odd, it's better then the green, velvety one before. And even though we secretly wish Rupert's Mum would toss his sneakers, we like the rest of his ensemble. Emma still looked great, we are definitely starting to see what these three can do with style.

2007: Growing Pains
We feel like we've seen the 'Harry Potter' cast in sweaters and pants so much we could be ill. It's the teenage uniform, it makes sense, it just would be nice to see the characters dress up a bit from time to time. I guess we can't have a formal school dance in every movie, can we?

2007: Awwwww!!!!!!
We don't know why, but this photo was totally endearing to us. First of all, Hermione looks beautifully adorable. And Harry looks very cute and sweet as well. It almost looked like they were holding hands, we don't know about you, but we were rooting for Harry and Hermione from the get-go. Though, Ron and Hermione is a cute pairing as well.
