The American Music Awards are a casual award show and Fergie went for a very casual hairstyle to rock the red carpet. Her long hair was styled in loose waves and her lowlights really accentuated her facial features nicely.

A Clean Sweep

Carrie Underwood never takes a misstep on the red carpet and her American Music Awards hairstyle was no exception. Her perfectly curled, platinum blond hair looked beautiful in this side-swept style.

We know what Selena Gomez was going for with this curly coif, but we think it fell a little short. Her face-framing curls almost look messy, and the tightness of the curl makes her look so much younger than she is.

From the funky orange-y color to the big crimped waves, we were most unimpressed with Kelly Clarkson's hairstyle. We preferred Kelly when her hair was darker shades of brown.

There was nothing about Blake Lewis' American Music Awards hairstyle that we liked. The multi-color, spiked out 'do was a major don't in our book!

Alicia Keys always goes for a more dressy approach on the red carpet, and her knotted style was a bit much for this casual affair. We were in love with her pretty, brown hair color though.
