American Music Awards 2008- Red Carpet Wrap Up

We loved Miley's look on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Her dress is funky yet sophisticated at the same time. We are a big fan of the black and gold look and the strapless is youthful for a girl who's only 16. Overall the look is great. We would have added a necklace but we give her a big thumbs up for the night.

Well, first we have to give Chris Brown credit for choosing an outfit that is formal enough for the event. In the past we have seen him look pretty laid back for some of the red carpets. The combo of the vest, formal collar shirt and bow tie with the leather jacket is interesting. For the most part it works for us since the AMAs tend to have a funky flair to the fashions.

Love, love, love the dress but don't get the whole Indian look that Alicia Keys has going on. The dress is a beautiful color and the one shoulder strap with slanted neckline is something we have seen a lot lately. The silver on the strap and belt gives it a fancy look. We just don't get the jewels on her forehead. That with the bangles and big earrings make it seem like she is trying to be Indian.

We wonder if Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus have the same stylist because this dress reminds us of Miley's. They both did strapless with a layered material & belt and mini-skirt length. The color combo on Ashley's dress is nice as well.

They are getting better but still Kevin, Joe and Nick never seem to be color coordinated in their outfits. This time Nick seems to be in the brown and earth tones, Kevin and Joe in the blacks and grays but each took a different color for their shirt and tie. On Kevin we aren't loving the striped tie with the funky black and white shows. He should have gone for black like his brother.

Ah, Colbie, what are you wearing? It seriously looks like a piece of astro-turf gone bad. The neckline is strange and a bit too revealing. There is no waistline so it makes her look twice as big as she probably is. Honestly, we have nothing nice to say about this dress.

So here's our point of looking appropriate for the event you are at. Here Kayne West seems ready to hit the stands at a sporting event rather than attend an awards show. The hat, jacket and pants don't really seem to do together and none of the three is even nice looking. We have seen Kayne look much better.

Rihanna, did you chat with Colbie when getting dressed? Another selection that we just don't get. The layered ruffles didn't sit well with us and then to have this crazy piece at the bottom where one side is longer than the other. We call this one a baby doll dress gone bad. And what's with the gloves?

Yes, a man who can dress and look good! Way to go Lance Bass. This suit and vest with collared shirt underneath is perfect for this event. The lack of tie brings a little less formal and more funky look to it. The shoes aren't anything crazy and blend nicely with the look. Two thumbs up! Or should we say dancing shoes!

Taylor Swift always looks good. Her stylist should get a raise. This silver one shoulder dress is perfect for her. The design in the silver is funky and the cut is very flattering. It's a shorter length like Ashley and Miley and works for someone her age.
