Sep 30, 2009 - Smith had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday. Smith had loose bodies removed from the knee in the operation and is expected to be ready when spring training opens. He last pitched Aug. 29 and was placed on the disabled list Sept. 1.
Sep 27, 2009 - Smith, out since Sept. 1 with a sore left knee, is expected to pitch a bullpen session Sunday and could be activated for the final week if all goes well.
Jun 09, 2009 - Smith made his first appearance in Triple-A Columbus on his rehab assignment and pitched one scoreless inning on Saturday, giving up one hit, one walk and striking out one, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
