Jan 24, 2009 - Detroit improved its bullpen, signing Lyon to a $4.25 million, one-year contract on Saturday. Along with his salary, the right-hander can earn $500,000 in performance bonuses. Lyon saved 26 games in 31 chances with Arizona, then was replaced by Chad Qualls as their closer late last season. He has 51 career saves, while also playing for Toronto and Boston.
