Mary J. Blige spent the first few years of her life in Georgia, before moving with her mother and older sister to New York. With her blonde hair and combat boots, Mary is street-tough and beautiful all at once. When she was at a local mall, she recorded herself singing Anita Baker's 'Caught Up in the Rapture' into a karaoke machine. The tape was sent to a record label and she was asked to be a backup singer. Soon after, Rap mogul P. Diddy signed her to make her own CD.
