Mariah Carey is one of the best-selling female pop singers of the 20th century. She has the most number-one singles for an American solo artist. Mariah was in Long Island, New York. Her mother was a former opera singer and vocal coach. She got her start in music as a back-up singer for dance-pop singer Brenda K. Starr. Mariah was then discovered at a party and signed to record her own album which had four number-one singles. She recently released her tenth album 'E=MC2.' Mariah has become an inspiration for a lot of today's biggest pop queens.
