American Idol Camp
American Idol is going camping! This summer, kids can be a part of the Idol Camp, where you can brush up on your performing skills with real contestants from American Idol. The final application deadline is April 18, 2008 for kids 10 to 15.
One of the big stars that will be there at the Idol Camp is Lisa Tucker, American Idol contestant from season 6. KOL recently chatted with Lisa and asked her about the Camp and what she's been doing since being on American Idol.
LisaTuckerIdol: hi
KOL_Kimo: Hello, is this Lisa?
LisaTuckerIdol: yes
LisaTuckerIdol: how are you
KOL_Kimo: Great! Thanks for joining us on KOL.
KOL_Kimo: I hope you are having fun out there at the American Idol camp.
LisaTuckerIdol: I'm actually going to be there July 20th -July 26th
LisaTuckerIdol: And I'm looking forward to it.
KOL_Kimo: What do you all plan to do there this summer?
LisaTuckerIdol: I'm going to help teach a class
LisaTuckerIdol: perform
LisaTuckerIdol: it's going to be a whole week of fun
LisaTuckerIdol: spending time with the kids
KOL_Kimo: Have you ever taught anyone to sing before?
LisaTuckerIdol: I tried to teach my best friend once
LisaTuckerIdol: but I don't know how well that went
LisaTuckerIdol: lol
KOL_Kimo: You don't know? You haven't been following up on their progress?
LisaTuckerIdol: She won't sing for me anymore
LisaTuckerIdol: every time she comes over
LisaTuckerIdol: I ask her to sing, but she denies me
KOL_Kimo: Aw, shucks. How about you? Did you ever think you would be teaching anyone to sing before you were on Idol?
LisaTuckerIdol: no, I didn't
LisaTuckerIdol: I like to just help people out if I can
LisaTuckerIdol: I'm really excited for this opportunity
LisaTuckerIdol: It's exciting to be able to help people who want to do the same thing I do
KOL_Kimo: What else have you done since your appearance on Idol? Touring? Anything like that?
LisaTuckerIdol: Well we went on tour after the show
LisaTuckerIdol: I actually just finished a movie
LisaTuckerIdol: it's called "the Hustle"
LisaTuckerIdol: I start a new movie this month
LisaTuckerIdol: and this summer I'm traveling to Europe
LisaTuckerIdol: to sing for the troops
LisaTuckerIdol: so very busy :-)
KOL_Kimo: ooh, "the Hustle." What's that about?
LisaTuckerIdol: It's a comedy
LisaTuckerIdol: it's with David Alan Greier and Charlie Murphy
LisaTuckerIdol: My character was so much fun to play
LisaTuckerIdol: It comes out on June 1st
LisaTuckerIdol: Just being on set I was cracking up, it was so much fun
KOL_Kimo: Do you do any singing in the movie?
LisaTuckerIdol: yes I actually do sing in the movie
LisaTuckerIdol: actually my songs are in the movie
LisaTuckerIdol: I'm super excited
LisaTuckerIdol: can't wait to see it
KOL_Kimo: Can you tell us something funny that happened on the set?
LisaTuckerIdol: Let's see Something funny
LisaTuckerIdol: OMG
LisaTuckerIdol: As soon as I put on my outfit
LisaTuckerIdol: these shorts were so big, and my ankles looked so big
LisaTuckerIdol: coming out of these sled pants
LisaTuckerIdol: everytime I walked around people would laugh at me
KOL_Kimo: Gosh, sounds like more fun than any of us are having.
LisaTuckerIdol: lol
LisaTuckerIdol: I don't know about that
LisaTuckerIdol: But it was a lot of fun
LisaTuckerIdol: the cast is great
KOL_Kimo: How about American Idol? Have you been following the show?
LisaTuckerIdol: I actually haven't really been following the show
LisaTuckerIdol: this is the first season I haven't really been watching
LisaTuckerIdol: I didn't get caught at the beginning so I missed out
KOL_Kimo: Since you've been so busy right?
LisaTuckerIdol: yea
LisaTuckerIdol: I have been really busy, a lot of traveling
LisaTuckerIdol: I try to set my Tivo and catch episodes
LisaTuckerIdol: My brother always erases it on my Tivo
LisaTuckerIdol: before I get a chance to watch
KOL_Kimo: Shame on him. LOL.
KOL_Kimo: So, I guess you couldn't pick a favorite singer yet?
LisaTuckerIdol: Not yet
