Kanye West is a very different rap artist from so many. He avoids being 'gangsta' and tries to be the person his mother raised him to be. Kanye was born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago and went from hip-hop beatmaker to worldwide hitmaker. His stellar production work for rapper Jay-Z earned him a major-label recording contract as a solo artist. Soon his beats were accompanied by his own witty rhymes. He has released 3 albums since 2004 and has won Grammys and a number of other music awards. Kanye is definitely one of rap's biggest innovators.
