Dread Man Walking

After two disastrous performances on Tuesday night, May 6, not even Jason Castro's big fan base could save him from elimination. Jason first tried his hand at singing the song 'I Shot the Sheriff' from another dread-locked superstar Bob Marley, but didn't do so hot. But the biggest problem came when he tried to sing 'Mr. Tambourine Man' from Bod Dylan only to forget the lyrics in the middle of the song. Simon went as far as to compare his performance to a round 1 audition. When it was Syesha who was picked to move on to the top 3, Jason didn't stop smiling and graciously hugged her before walking off the stage. It looked like he wasn't too surprised he was voted off.

Jason is the most recognizable of all the idols with his long, dread-locked hair. He not only is a singer, but also plays the guitar and drums. Jason has lived his whole life in Texas. When Idol came for auditions in Dallas, Jason impressed all three judges and was sent to Hollywood. He performed a rendition of the song 'Hallelujah' which was originally performed by singer Jeff Buckley who died in 1997. Sales of the song jumped up to #1 on iTunes.
