KOL Chats With the 'True Jackson, VP' Star
KOLSteph: Congrats on the new show. Can you tell us how you got involved with True Jackson, VP?
KekePalmer: I heard about the role from a friend and thought it was a cool show and I would like to try out for it. So I had a meeting with the creator of the show and then I had an audition and then I had another audition and then I got the part.
KOLSteph: We understand that you helped write the theme song and that you perform it. How was it to write the theme song? Was that a fun experience?
KekePalmer: It was. I never was really confident in my writing at all. But it was just me there with producer Toby. I put my all into it and I worked really hard and finally got it to where I liked it. And I was really proud of myself because everyone really liked the song.
KOLSteph: Would you say you are like True in any way? Any similarities?
KekePalmer: We are definitely very similar. I work really hard just like her. I am optimistic- all things like that.
KOLSteph: What's been the best part of working on the new show?
KekePalmer: Working with the cool cast and having a studio audience. And being in California-- working and being close to home.
KOLSteph: So you tape in front of a live audience. How's that? Any funny moments where you messed up?KekePalmer: One time I had this line, I was supposed to say –stand up and keep your earlobes tight, but instead I said she sleeps with her earlobes up. It was so funny; everyone was laughing.
KOLSteph: What's been the biggest challenge that True has had to face at work?
KekePalmer: In this one episode True had a hard time because her best friend was her assistant and wasn't being much of an assistant so it was hard for her to have to fire her and still be a friend at the same time.
KOLSteph: We understand skateboarder Ryan Sheckler is going to be a guest star on one of the episodes. Can you give us a sneak peek?
KekePalmer: I have no idea because we haven't shot it yet. We have only shot six episodes.
KOLSteph: Are you into the world of fashion?
KekePalmer: I have become more into fashion because of the show. I want to look good too. When people talk about True Jackson, I want people to think of Keke Palmer. So I have been a lot into fashion lately; she has definitely shined down on me.
KOLSteph: What's your favorite article of clothing?
KekePalmer: I would have to say my bag- I this really cool red bag that I love. A really big one.
KOLSteph: If you could be put in charge of any company, which one would you want to run?
KekePalmer: Juicy Couture
KOLSteph: Last time we spoke you were talking about maybe go on tour for your So Uncool CD. Do you have any plans to tour or are you busy with the show?
KekePalmer: Busy with the show lately, I don't know about touring yet. I am getting ready to work on a new album.
KOLSteph: When will it come out?
KekePalmer: It won’t be for a long time.
KOLSteph: You have a new movie coming out called 'Shrink.' Can you tell us about it?
KekePalmer: It comes out in 2009. It’s about Kevin Spacey's character who is a shrink. My character is a struggling and her mother takes her to this shrink. He helps her and it's about how they connect and stuff like that.
KOLSteph: Now that you have done plenty of movies and this TV show, do you have a preference?
KekePalmer: I really like doing the TV show because it's stable. It's so much fun. We are with Nickelodeon so we are having a great time.
KOLSteph: Any big Halloween plans this Friday?
KekePalmer: I am having a sleepover with my girls. We are going to watch scary movies.
