Lucas Grabeel Interview- Part II

KOLSteph: Of course I have to ask about HSM. How do you like being Ryan? Do you feel more connected to him than Ezra?
Lucas Grabeel: Definitely not. I am not Ryan either. I don’t go around prancing and dancing all the time. I hope I am slightly more intelligent than he is too.

KOLSteph: From all three movies what's been your favorite musical number to do?
Lucas Grabeel: That’s hard. It's a lot of musical numbers. I liked them all.

KOLSteph: What's your feeling about HSM3 going to the big screen rather than a TV movie? Excited about that?
Lucas Grabeel: Yeah, why wouldn’t we be? It's a big step. It's amazing. It feels right and it feels much bigger. It's just the way the machine is going.

KOLSteph: Any secrets you can spill about HSM3?
Lucas Grabeel: Definitely not.

KOLSteph: I had to ask! I know you have done a lot of TV shows and movies- which do you prefer working on?
Lucas Grabeel: I don't know- each of my jobs is like my baby. It's my life, my career. I love all of them. I love my job. I try not to have any bad experiences. There are tough times but you make the most of it. I've had the blessing of having an amazing career so far so it's been one wild ride and one great project after another.

KOLSteph: Who are some of the best people you have worked with?
Lucas Grabeel: I respect a lot of people from Sean Penn to Corbin Bleu and everything in between. I have worked with some really great people.

KOLSteph: If you had your pick, who would you want to work with?
Lucas Grabeel: Christopher Guest- he is a actor/director. He primarily directs films. He was in 'This is Spinal Tap', 'Best in Show', 'For Your Consideration', 'A Mighty Wind', and 'Princess Bride.'

KOLSteph: Do you have any plans to do a CD or any interest in going into music?
Lucas Grabeel: I am not going to be putting out an album anytime soon. I write music all the time and play lots of instruments but I don't have the time right now to devote to making an album.

KOLSteph: If we took your IPod right now, what kind of music would we find on there?
Lucas Grabeel: Everything from African Tribal music to 'HSM' and everything in between. I love jazz, blues, electronic music, rock, classical, opera. I have a lot of film scores also.

KOLSteph: Can you tell us some of the other projects you are working on?
Lucas Grabeel: 'Alice Upside Down' just came out on DVD last month. It is starring Alyson Stoner also from Disney, Luke Perry and Penny Marshall. There is another film I finished last year called 'Lock and Roll Forever.' It's a film with a new all-girl ska rock band from Japan. It's kind of like 'A Hard Days Night' meets 'JPop.' I finished 'Milk' earlier this year with Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, James Franco, Emile Hirsch. It comes out November 26. I also started my own production company. I am pitching a TV show right now that we shot a pilot for earlier this year. I am also starting to work on some screenplays for movies to do next year with the production company along with the music videos and short films we have already done and submitted to film festivals.
KOLSteph: You are just a little busy.
Lucas Grabeel: I am leaving in two weeks to go to Korea for a film there. I will be out of the country for a while. So I will miss all the 'HSM' premieres and hoopla. I will be on the other side of the world.

KOLSteph: That's a bummer. Well, we are looking forward to seeing you in 'The Adventures of Food Boy.' Seems like it was a lot of fun. Thanks for speaking with us.
