An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong

Stand Strong

Chrissa is the new girl in school after her family moves in the middle of the year. She has to deal with making friends and the bullies who give her a hard time in school and online. Chrissa is a swimmer and also has to deal with one of the girls who ends up being her rival on the swim team. In the end, she learns that being yourself and standing up for who you are is the most important thing. The movie stars Sammi Hanratty, Timothy Bottoms, Annabeth Gish, and Jennifer Tilly.

Sammi talks about 'An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong'
KOL: What was the best part about making the 'An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong' movie?
Sammi: Meeting the girls that are now my best friends and working with the llamas!

KOL: Most challenging part?
Sami: There's a scene in the movie where the "mean bees" put up posters of my face on a llama and everyone laughs. It really affected me and made me cry, even though I knew it was part of the movie.

KOL: What advice would you give to other kids who are being bullied?
Sammi: Try and stay strong and not let it get to you. Talk to an adult you can trust and try to surround yourself with a good group of friends.

KOL: What's it like to now be a part of the American Girl family?
Sammi: It's an amazing honor. I'm so proud to be a part of the American Girl family and I hope this movie can help others deal with problems they may be dealing with.

KOL: Did you have American Girl dolls when you were younger?
Sammi: I didn't really play with dolls when I was younger, but if I did I would have them all. They are adorable. I have Mia and Chrissa and I plan on getting more.
