'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian'
Movie Premiere
I had the chance to attend the world premiere of 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian' at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. I live right in the DC area and it's funny how you don't take advantage of all the great things that are so close to you. I think it has been a year or two since I have been to the museum. It's very cool with all the planes and interactive exhibits. Since part of the movie was shot at the Smithsonian museums, it made perfect sense to have the premiere there.
Myself, along with a lot of other press people, all had the chance to stand along the red carpet and interview the stars of the movie as they came for the premiere. You can check out some of my interviews in the video above. Also, there are pics below so you can see more of the event. For me some of the funny highlights were Hank Azaria doing a little of the voice of his character Kahmunrah and the writers of the movie (who also play the Wright Brothers) telling me we might want to think of calling Kids Online (KOL), Koalas Online. What a bunch of jokers.
We had a chance to see the movie before it opens next week and if you loved the first one, you will also love the second. All of your favorites are back- Teddy, Dexter, Jedediah, Attila the Hun, Sacajawea, Rexy and even the Easter Island Head- and some new ones too like a giant octopus, Amelia Earhart, Abe Lincoln, Napolean, Al Capone and Kahmunrah. In this movie, all of the exhibits from the Museum of Natural History are being shipped to the archives under the Smithsonian since they are old school. When the tablet that brings everyone to life ends up going with them, all of the exhibits in the Smithsonian come to life including Kahmunrah, who wants to take over the world. Larry follows them to Washington, DC to join in the fight and bring his friends back to the Museum of Natural History. There is also a little romance between Larry and Amelia Earhart, played by Amy Adams (Giselle in 'Enchanted'). For me the best part was Kahmunrah. Even though he is evil (or tries to be) he is actually really funny too. Look for special appearances by Darth Vader, Oscar and the Jonas Brothers (in an indirect way). The movie is action-packed and filled with special effects like planes crashing through glass and Abe Lincoln walking around the National Mall. Be sure to check it out starting May 22 in theaters and on IMAX screens.
