March 13, 2008 - And Then There Were 11
Another crazy night for 'Idol.' They continued the tribute to the Beatles and announced that the theme would continue into next week. The group performance was actually really good. Everyone looked so relaxed. And then of course was Jim Carrey making an appearance as Horton from the upcoming movie 'Horton Hears a Who.' What a nutty guy. Anything for some good PR. And before we get to the results, what did you think of the new call in questions? We liked it. Especially the question about why Ryan and Simon don't just duke it out on stage. We would LOVE to see that! OK, now the main event of the evening. The bottom three were Syesha, David H and Kristy. We thought for sure Kristy was going but when all was said and done it was David H we said goodbye to. Not at all who we thought would go. He actually has a pretty good voice and he was better than some people still left. What did you think of his elimination? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
March 12, 2008 - The Top 12 Perform
Last night was an exciting time on 'Idol.' Not only did the top 12 perform for the first time, but the new set was revealed and it was Beatles night. We have to give the new set the big thumbs up. We really liked it. Much more moderns and slick looking. Overall, we thought most of the top twelve had solid performances. David A was having a bad night. He forgot the lyrics and from then on the whole performance was thrown off. The judges really didn't like Kristy's country spin on her song and David H seemed to overdo it a bit. Our top picks for the night were Carly, Brooke, Chikezie and David C. Who do we think is going home? Kristy or maybe Michael. Who do you think is headed home? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
March 7, 2008 - Meet the Top 12
We said goodbye to four more finalists last night to get us to the top twelve contestants. On the girls' side, we expected Kady to be sent home but we did not expect Asia'h to be there. As far as the guys go, Luke hasn't been a favorite of the judges so it isn't a surprise he went (although we did think he was a cutie). Danny was an interesting one. He had some good and some bad performances, but we think some people just didn't like him. He has a quirky personality. So now the major competition begins with the boys and girls competing against each other. Bring it on! What do you think of the top 12? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
March 6, 2008 - 80's Night Part II
Last night the girls hit the stage and we have to say it was a great night. We thought all the performances were good and no one bombed. Amanda, Asia'h, and Carly were all great. If we had to predict who was going home it would be Kady and Kristy. The craziness of the night was the judges. They were all over the place. When Paula asked what was going on here, we had to agree. Things got out of control and the show totally lost focus. And Simon was in a bad mood- what was that snap at Ryan? Who do you think should go home from the girls? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
March 5, 2008 - 80's Night
Last night the top eight boys took on songs from the 80's. Overall the performances were good. The one performance that stood out to us was David Cook's arrangement of Lionel Richie's 'Hello.' Definitely a risk, but we liked it. Overall we have to say we agreed with the judges' feedback. David A, please stop doing ballads and try something new. Danny, nice try but didn't cut it. Michael, love 'The Breakfast Club' but we weren't overwhelmed by your performance. David H, good song choice and interesting spin on a song Celine Dion does so well. The funniest moment of the night was when Ryan asked Paula to describe the night and she said, "Two words- phenomenal!" Uh, that's one, Paula. What was YOUR take on the night? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
February 29, 2008 - Four More Go Home
We said goodbye to four more finalists last night on 'American Idol.' Was it us or did the show seem to go fast? They didn't have Ryan drag out who was going they just did it one, two, three with each row. Thank goodness. So much better. For the girls, we lost Alexandrea Lushington and Alaina Whitaker. Both of them seemed to be in shock and took it hard. We applaud Paula for always coming out with such positive words for these contestants. It helps after getting such bad news. On the boys side Jason Yeager and Robbie Carrico were eliminated. Not exactly who were were expecting to send home on both sides but we see why they were. What did you think of the eliminations? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
February 28, 2008 - Top Ten Girls
Last night on Idol the theme seemed to be bad song choices. I think almost every contestant except Brooke got either, not the right song for you, or not bad but you haven't yet found THE song. It really goes to show that the song you pick can make or break your performance. That's why Brooke did so well- the song was perfect for her voice and personality. And while we are on that song, Simon really did think the song was about him and wouldn't let it go. Talk about vain! Overall we agree the night had ok songs but nothing amazing. Love Carly's accent and tattoo, hate Amanda's lion mane hair, and is it just us or did Kristy not remind you of Keri Russell? Oh, and we like Asia'H's hair better curly. What did you think of the gals? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
February 27, 2008 - Top Ten Guys
So the top ten guys performed last night. Some really great performances, and others that we could do without. Our favorite part of the night was the contestants fighting back in response to Simon. We loved when David Cook told Simon he doesn't have to win him over and Chikezie pointed out that Simon tends to wear the same outfit on TV. Can we say black shirt and jeans? In terms of the performances, Danny, David H, David C, and Chikezie were all great. The performance of the night had to go to David A. He slowed it up with 'Imagine' and just did a great job. The judges loved it. What did you think of the guys? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
February 22, 2008 - First Four to Fall
Last night was the first round of eliminations and we said good-bye to Amy, Joanne, Garrett and Colton. We can't say we are surprised about any of them, especially after the judges' reactions to their performances. We think that really does influence the way America votes. What did you think about the finalists who got sent home? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
February 21, 2008 - Whoa Ladies
Last night the girls took the stage and overall we have to say, not as good as the guys. The night started out shaky with performances by Kristy and Joanne that weren't great. You could tell they were so nervous. Kristy was sick so we have to give her a break. But the night continued to have issues. Amanda did well, as did Brooke and Syesha. The three top performances of the night were Ramiele, Alexandrea, and Asia'h. Simon was his usual harsh self. Even when Randy and Paula were trying to give good constructive criticism, Simon would just trash the performance. Could he have been anymore mean to Joanne? Even after she said how she tries to take their feedback, he still continues to bash on her saying that if she joined Randy and his comments the whole song was bad. What a jerk he is sometimes! What did you think of the girls? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
Last night on Idol the top 12 boys took the stage. Overall, not a bad night. Simon was actually nice to some of the guys and of course he and Paula did their normal fighting back and forth about performances. We thought David H started the night off strong and this was one of the performances that Simon sort of liked. If you can call "better than I thought it was going to be" a compliment. Chikezie was also strong and had a few things to say to Simon after his feedback on his outfit and performance. Some of our favorites were David C who did a great job putting his own spin on the song and David A who was very good and just makes you want to pinch his cheeks. Danny sang Elvis but we have to agree with the judges that is was a very safe song. Didn't show off what he could do. Lucas was OK with the singing but we have to say is very cute. And no Simon, we didn't forget about him. Lastly, our favorite of the night was Jason Yeager who sang Moon River. OK, not the best song choice, but when he dedicated it to his grandma we thought that was so sweet. Plus, he seems like such a nice guy and great dad. Who did you like last night? Post your thoughts on the message boards.
