Guinness World Records: 2013 Gamer's Edition

Our friends at the Guinness World Records checks in again with some more crazy and wacky records. This time, we take a look at some of the craziest VIDEO GAME records around
AOL Kids got a preview of the new Guinness World Records: 2013 Gamer's Edition book and found some of our favorite record holders.



Largest Collection of Videogame Memorabilia: Brett Martin (USA) has been collecting gaming merchandise for 15 years. His collection now consists of at least 467 different gaming items, ranging from cuddly Kirbys to prototype Star Fox figures.

Smallest Arcade Machine: The smallest arcade machine was built by Mark Slevinsky (Canada). Just 124 x 52 x 60 mm (4.88 x 2.05 x 2.36 in), it is fully playable. The computer engineer built it from scratch in 2009 and wrote his own operating system, FunkOS, to program its Tetris, Space Invaders and Breakout clones.

Oldest Gaming Record Holder:
As of June 2012, John Bates (USA) was 85 years 205 days old, making him the oldest videogaming record holder.

Youngest GT Winner Turned Pro: Jann Mardenborough (UK) won the 2011 GT Academy, an initiative set up by Nissan and PlayStation to bring together the best Gran Turismo gamers and give them a chance to drive a professional racing car. Jann, who was 19 at the time of his triumph – making him the youngest GT Academy winner – now has an international racing licence and drives for Nissan in the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Largest Bead Sprite

Kevin Gillespie (USA) decided to show his appreciation for The Legend of Zelda by creating an exact, pixel-by-pixel replica of the title screen from the NES classic, using 57,344 tiny perler beads. The finished sprite measures 1.25 m (4 ft 1 in) across and weighs 2.3 kg (5 lb).

Most world records held on Super Mario Kart (Nintendo, 1992) by a female: The most world records held by a female player on Super Mario Kart (Nintendo, 1992) is 30, achieved by Leyla Hasso (UK) in London, UK, between January and August 2012. Leyla is 14 years old, and is the protégée of Sami Çetin (UK), the Super Mario Kart Time Triallist and Guinness World Records holder.

Most Prolific Dancing Game High Scorer: Elizabeth "Kitty McScratch" Bolinger holds more Twin Galaxies high-score records for Dance Central, Just Dance and Just Dance 2 than any other player. She is no.1 on the leaderboard for more than 85 different songs. Her highest score is for Dance Central track "C'mon Ride It (The Train)" by Quad City DJs, for which she scored 432,793 points on 5 December 2010.
