AOL Kids is proud to premiere the new hit song by the Brooklyn, NY band The Pop-Ups, "Winter Beard". Its a song that anyone can sing to celebrate the winter season, say Jason Rabinowitz and Jacob Stein, who together make up The Pop Ups.
Imagine an Alien crash-lands in your back-yard, and the first thing he meets is a Hipster Brooklynite with a warm, fuzzy beard. He's also amazed at the facial growth of just about everyone on the street. Envious of these gloriously hirsute looks, the alien finds a creative way to sport his own Winter Beard.
The video finishes off with dozens of photos of adorable kids sporting various style of facial bristling, from soap suds to paper cut-outs, to knitwear and even curly kale!
The video was imagined, shot, directed, edited and written by the duo. "It was kind of an exercise in whimsy all around," says Jason.
"We asked all of our fans to send in pictures of their families with fake beards, the more imaginative the materials, the better," The Pop Ups explain. "We loved seeing so many of the ideas coming from kids and then cooperatively created with their parents. It was a very cool way to turn our listeners into DIY makers, which is one of the key themes of the Pop Ups."
