Today is the beginning of June. Find out what you can expect this month.
-June is the sixth month of the year, and one of only four months that has 30 days (the others are April, September and November)

-No other month begins on the same day of the week as June (this year, it's a Friday).

-June is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and the shorest daylight hours in the Southern Hemisphere.

-June's birthstones are the Alexandrite, the Moonstone, and the pearl.

Many annual events take place in June all over the world, including:



-Flag Days in Sweden (June 6), USA (June 14), Denmark (June 15), Argentina (June 20) and Romania (June 26).

-Madaraka Day is celebrated in Kenya on June 1st, to recognize when Kenya gained internal self-rule.

-Kamehameha Day is celebrated in Hawaii on June 11 to honor the first ruler of the one-time kingdom.

-Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June not just in the USA, but also in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Venezuela, the Netherlands, Ireland and Canada.)

-In Iceland, the first Sunday in June is called Fishermansday, to celebrate the work of fishermen and remember those who were lost at sea.

-In the Philippines, they celebrate their Independence Day on June 12.

-And of course, the most important holiday of all: June 21 is Go Skateboarding Day!
